Farm to Table Restaurant

Topsoil Restaurant in Travelers Rest SC is a farm to table restaurant led by Chef Adam Cooke, 2020 James Beard semifinalist for Best Chef Southeast.  Our menus begin with walks through our field and visits or calls to local small farmers we are proud to call friends.  In fact, there's a good chance you will travel farther to get here than your food did!

Our mission at Topsoil Restaurant is to connect our guests with food grown in our community in a more meaningful way. Our classroom is a 16-acre farm in Travelers Rest, SC, and our mentors are a handful of passionate neighboring farmers. This endeavor, has given us a valuable perspective and respect for the hard work that small farms do daily to put food on our tables. We have gained a sincere reverence for the local ingredients we choose because local just tastes better.

We built this restaurant to showcase the beautiful produce of our local farms. Topsoil is located in the historic Williams Hardware building in downtown Travelers Rest is nestled between Main Street and the Swamp Rabbit Trail. 

Our menus celebrate the growing seasons and always begin with phone calls to farmers. This honest connection with the people that grow the food we prepare is what we want to share with you the most. When you join us for dinner, weekend brunch, a monthly plant based supper club, a private event or our Sunday Chef's tasting menu you will get to taste the difference local makes!


Topsoil Restaurant is something much more than a restaurant, it is a love letter to long growing seasons here in South Carolina and hard-working small farmers.  We look forward to sharing this with you every time you visit!

I have always found cooking and eating vegetables to be the most rewarding experience, especially when it accompanies close relationships with the farmers. It's easy to be creative in the kitchen when I'm so closely tied to the ingredients.
